Exam procrastination post!!

It's half past 9 on a Wednesday morning and I'm still lying in bed with my dressing gown on writing a  (some might say needless) blogpost. Why? Because I don't want to study. Because the thought of studying just make me want to raid the biscuit tin and it depresses me. I'm not sure if I'm the only one who gets like this around exam time especially in December. This is the first year since I started Uni that we have had December exams and I really am hating it this year, at this time of year I should be putting up the Christmas tree and drinking mulled wine not breaking out in stress spots and contemplating how much I feel like I'm going to fail.....how does everyone do this year after year?  But I need to look on the bright side. One week from today I will have finished my last exam ever!!! Uni will be over with and I will no longer be in a long distance relationship. I can take a trip to Edinburgh Christmas market (which is amazing) and drink a massive cup of mulled wine. I can wrap all the presents sitting in my room that at the moment are staring at me saying wrap me wrap me as my procrastination leads me to believe.

But for now I must get my head down, I must study hard, I will pass my exams well and know all I need to know. Then finally I can once more become embroiled in my blog and the blogging world.

For all of you studying for exams get your head down and good luck. For everyone enjoying the Christmas spirit have fun and be safe I will be joining you in a week!!!!

Soap and Glory Flake Away review

Last week I felt that my skin was in need of a pick me up, so I headed into Boots for a body scrub. As I love Soap and Glory products I headed straight for them, now S&G have quite a few scrubs to choose from so I decided to pick up a travel sized version of Flake Away to try before I purchased a large sized product. I was not dissapointed in the slightest with this product. In the tub the product smells quite strong although it is a nice smell. It has a gel type consistency and contains shea butter ( which is super moisturising), sugar and peach seed as the exfoliants. On the skin the product turns slightly milky, but boy does it exfoliate! With this product a little really does go a long way so don't over do it! I bought mine for £2.50 for a travel size. The large size is £7 and I think I'll be popping into boots for it very soon!

My haircare Routine

My main haircare routine consists of 5 products which I find give me the perfect style and texture.

First up is Shampoo and Conditioner- John Frieda Full repair. I love these products, I started using it almost a year ago and have never looked back. Since I had dyed my hair blonde last summer its been really dry and frizzy at the ends and these products have been fab at conditioning my hair and making it so sleek and moisturised.

Next up is the John Frieda Sheer mist- I spray this through the mid-lengths and ends of my hair after towel drying and allows my Tangle Teezer to glide through with ease since my hair is extremely tuggy. This also leaves my hair soft and shiney.

I then spray my hair with Vo5 Plump it up amplifying blow dry spray- This product gives my hair volume and lots of it! I spray it through my roots and it just helps to build volume all through my roots.

Finally I run some Berber oil through my hair before blow drying which leaves it super soft and shiny! I wrote a review for it here .

and then I blow dry and either straighten or curl my hair and voila gorgeous soft flowing hair! Let me know what products you use so I can check them out.

Pinterest inspiration #1

So I thought I would start a regular feature on my blog, one that I enjoy and I can fit around uni.

So here it is my Pinterest inspiration post. As I have posted before I love Pinterest and pin during a lot of my spare moments. Each week I'm going to change the theme slightly and may include inspiration quotes, make up looks and wedding ideas.

This weeks theme is make up and hair inspiration!! This is great when trying to think of looks for nights out or special events and if you click the pictures on Pinterest a lot of the time you get taken through to the blog they came from where more often than not there's a tutorial on it. So here goes.....

The gorgeous Sophia Bush, I love that hair!!!                           Jennifer Lawrence from The Hunger Games.

Sophia Bush again with Shantel VanSanten from one tree hill.

Gorgeous sparkly eye!                                              How stunning is this green eye look??

Definitely want to try and recreate this look!                 MAC Impassioned lipstick!!! Adding to my Xmas list!!

So what do you think of my new feature, is it a keeper? Let me know what you would like to see each week.

New Name!!! and a little update!

So I felt that my blog needed a bit of a lift and that my name didn't give any inclination as to what my blog was actually about! So now with the new name "life, love and a beauty obsession" it gives a much better idea of what my blog is about.

Since I got a new name I decided to get a new blog header and since I am not very technical I got the lovely Jess from Raffles Bizarre to make my header for me and I think she has done an amazing job! much better than I can do!!! Thanks Jess!

So whats new with me.... well next week I'm moving house so hopefully once I have settled I will be able to get back into blogging. Although I will be moving again not that long after Christmas so the next few months are going to be pretty hectic for me.

My next post is going to be a Fall Haul post since I just updated my winter wardrobe. Just waiting on a couple of items to arrive from the interweb.

What do you think of my new blog header and name?

Berber oil review

I got this little bottle of Berber oil in a beauty box (Glossybox I believe it was. As someone with extremely oily hair I dismissed it as a product that I would never use and chucked it in my drawer of hair products. Then one day I was rummaging around and found it lurking, since my hair was dyed blonde last year it's quite dry at the ends even after being dyed brown again the blonde has come through and I now have an ombré effect hair without even trying. The lighter part of my hair though is so super dry so I thought I'd give the Berber oil a go of it.

The product is a gel like oil- that's the best way to describe it, it's not as runny like an oil but not as solid as gel is. I pop some into the palms of my hand and rub it between them and distribute it through the lengths and ends of my hair when it's been towel dried. I don't go above my ears with the product as I don't want my roots to get greasy. I then brush through my hair which is now tug free and smooth. After drying my hair is super soft and a lot less frizzy and messy looking, it then straightens with such ease and is not greasy in the slightest. My hair is shiny and healthy looking.

Would I recommend this product?? Yes!!! 100%.

Would I repurchase?? 1 million%. You can get Berber oil on Amazon and EBay, 100ml is less than £10 and you need the tiniest amount each time. So definitely worth the money!!!

I hope this review was helpful. I have another oil which I will review once I used it a good few times and compare.

Something a bit more personal!

So since I have no inspiration for posts at the moment I thought I would let my followers and readers get to know me a bit better. So as you know I'm getting married next year, next September to be exact. I'm currently in my final semester at Uni and I cannot wait to finish as I can then move to the south of England to be with my wonderful husband to be who is doing his Phd down there.

We have been long distance for 3 years which is so ridiculously hard. I never knew just how hard it would be, but we got through it and I think if something is meant to be then you will be able to work through whatever's going on in your life. So in January I move to my own home with my other half and it seriously cannot come quick enough.

I'm hoping that over the next few months my blog will take shape and that I can find some inspiration for some new posts. If anyone has any suggestions I would be more that grateful.

New addiction.......Pinterest!!!!

Hellooooooo!!!!!!

Recently I downloaded the Pinterest app onto my IPad and I have been addicted to it ever since. It has pretty much taken over my life for the past week as I have been constantly pinning things to my boards.

For anyone looking for inspiration for beauty, food, fitness, wedding planning or you just want to look at cute pictures of animals the Pinterest is for you!

When I first signed up online I didn't really understand what all the fuss was about but boy was I wrong. It has given me so many crafty ideas of things to make for my wedding decorations and things for the home. I have found new recipes and some amazing make up inspiration. Quite a few of the looks I'm planning on trying to recreate.

Impress press on nails!

As someone who normally gets acrylic nails I decided to save myself a bit of money and instead of forking out the £30 i normally pay I thought I would try the Impress stick on nails by Broadway. Lets just say I was thoroughly impressed. The nails had such a lovely pattern on them and they come in all different colours. They were supper easy to apply and lasted for quite a few days. You get 24 nails in all different sizes so if one does fall off you do have a spare. I picked mine up in boots for £8.99 although depending on the pattern/colour they are priced differently.

July Glossybox 2012-My thoughts!

Box contents
This Months Glossybox in my opinion was quite impressive. With the HD Brows kit being included once again(Full sized £19.95-palette). Which is great since I dropped and smashed my last one. Also included is A Jelly pong pong Lip frosting (Full size £10-15ml)scented with Irish cream pavlova (which also may be the colour as I can't find the colour on it). A Monu Golden Glow face self tanner(30ml, Fulll size £23/200ml), A Clynol enrich colour shampoo(50ml, Full size £9.35/200ml) and an Elizabeth Arden Skin balancing lotion (5ml, Full size £32/50ml)which I am really looking forward to trying as I haven't tried Elizabeth Arden before. I also received a bonus item of Elizabeth Arden skin balancing line sample which was a lovely surprise. I haven't seen any other reviews with a bonus item and may be because I have a years subscription. All in all I think Glossybox have redeemed themselves this month with the shambles of last months box.

Lush Haul

Angels on Bare Skin £5.95/100g

Angels on Bare Skin

Angels on Bare Skin is a fresh facial cleanser. According to the Lush website they claim that " Angels on Bare Skin evens out skin tone, reduces redness and improves the health and appearance of your skin – giving a natural healthy glow"
it contains ground almonds which add a nice exfoliation to the skin. Iv only been using this product for a few days and I really like it. With it you take a small pea sized amount and mix with water to turn to a paste and then use all over. My skin feels soft and fresh after using.

Ultrabland

Ultrabland £6.45/45g

"A rich, soft, oily cleansing cream that cares gently for all skin types.
Softens the skin whilst thoroughly cleaning it – this product is super effective at its job.
Based on an ancient beeswax and vegetable oil formula from the times of Galen, the Greek physician and philosopher, this product will lift dirt, grease and make up from the skin, without stripping away your skin's natural defences." Lush website
I have really enjoyed using this product- I have oily skin and my skin hasn't gotten more oily since using this prodcut. Its fab for taking off make up. Just rub product into damp skin and wash off with a warm cloth or cotten pad.

H'suan Wen

H'suan Wen Hua £8.50/225g

H'suan Wen Hua is a hair mask treatment, just run through dry hair leave on for 20-30mins and then wash hair as normal. Contains raw eggs to give the hair an amazing shine!
I have loved using this product I used it a few days ago and my hair still feels super soft and moisturised. This is a great treat product! I would definitely recommend it!

Skin care loves- series!

I love to look after my skin, i believe that a good skincare routine is super important. i like to cleanse tone and moistuise as well as exfoliate and use face masks and pore strips. As well as it keeping your skin in tip top condition its also nice to have a pampering treat. Theres nothing quite as nice as popping on a face mask and chilling out in the bath with some relaxing music and candles.

So I am now on a quest to find the perfect skincare routine and in the coming weeks will have a series of reviews from cleansing to toning and then on to moisturiser! I have been testing 3 different cleansing waters so I will be reviewing them first.

Do any of you have any recommendations on what I should try, or anything you would like me to review??

Comments always welcome!

Sleep in rollers.....yay or nay??

Sleep in rollers have had a little bit if a buzz around them in the last few months. With sales in Velcro rollers skyrocketing since being seen on the girls from TOWIE and the Scousewives they have become a major must have in every girls hair accessories drawer.  The most annoying thing is the waiting time for your rollers to give  you volume. Thats where sleep in rollers come in.

Each Roller has a soft squeezy sponge in the middle and the roller itself is sqeezable. This allows for a more comfortable wear and allows for easier sleeping with the rollers in. Although I found sleeping with them uncomfortable I love the effect that they gave in the morning with minimal styling time.

I secured each roller with a couple of kirby grips which meant that they were less likely to fall out through the night with all the tossing and turning that I do. The downside to this was the kinks the kirbies left in my hair which I had to use straightners just to straighten out. The Rollers left my hair super volumised and with a nice shape to it which can be seen in the below pic.

Overall my thoughts are positive on the rollers although they are still uncomfortable to sleep in they give an amazing effect and are great if you dont have time to blow dry your hair with a lot of volume or have time to wait on rollers working through the day. This is certainly an easier way to get the volumised look with only a minimal amount of time styling!! For me they are a definite YAY!!!!

I got mine from http://velcrosleeprollers.com/lookup002.html for £16.50

Time to get Naked.....again!

The naked pallete is a nude lovers best friend! I bought the original palette the week it came out and have used it loads! It definitely has become my go to and is also great when travelling as you can vary the looks you do from one thing!

So when I heard Urban Decay were bringing out a new palette I was a bit skeptical- I mean how many neutral colours can there really be??? But in saying that I really love this new palette.  The colours are more taupe-y compared to the first which is more gold and I love that it contains a matte black to really smoke up a look.

Sorry for the rubbish pics my camera is rubbish!
Only one colour was repeated from the first palette which happens to be the one I use the most which is half baked (second from the left)

I think the palette is not necessary if you have the first one unless you are a true beauty junkie and if I was to choose I would choose the first over the second eyeshadow wise but the second is better case wise! The case is much more sturdy in the second palette. I have travelled alot with the first and it perfectly ok.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is they both have their pro's and con's.

I got mine from http://www.buyapowa.com/cobuys keep checking back to see if they bring it back, if not you can pick it up from Urban Decay!!
